The tearing of nature- one tree less in the world
My landlord just chopped down an amazingly huge tree. I had a feeling all along, (apart from the annoyance from the noisy chainsaw) that something was wrong. Now that they are done I realize that the feeling of wrong was due to the loss of a perfectly good tree. A tree that probably has served people with O2 for decades, and now it's all done, all for the luxury and of two picky people. This years studies of international development has truly changed my way of thinking and created an awareness of both social and environmental hazards. Detachment from nature could perhaps have been the 8th cardinal sin.
